Sensei: The Framework

Réalisations.net builds custom technologies in order to deliver the unique effects each project requires. These new technologies are developed using our proprietary in-house platform known as Sensei. The Sensei framework provides us with an ever-expanding toolbox on which new ideas can be built. Sensei is designed on an impeccable technical foundation, which means optimal performance, stability and easy maintenance. It is organized in a way that artists can work efficiently with low-level programmers to seamlessly interconnect hardware and software components, as well as interchange video files, 3D models, shaders and scripts. This flexibility allows us to respond very quickly to changing needs and to explore interactive models which are not supported by commercially available software.

Réalisations.net builds a custom C++ application for each project based on our framework. This application becomes a kernel onto which we insert industry-standard tools or creative software. It allows a multitude of inputs (thermal, infrared, audio, mechanical, network, web, DMX, Midi, etc.) to be processed and rendered to multi-screen projections, video screens, multichannel audio, mechanical actuators and more.

Unlimited effects can be programmed by our creative team. They can now be integrated in a manner of days instead of months and our team of programmers can quickly add support for virtually any kind of device. Sensei allows components to be mixed in any way, be it for long-term installations or stage-based performances.

Show Control

Almost all of Réalisations.net’s projects are controlled entirely by the Medialon Manager Show Control system. It allows us to automate every part of an installation whether it is light, video, sound or mechanical actuators. Réalisations.net is a Medialon Certified Programmer.

Multi-touch Table

Réalisations.net’s multi-touch interactive tables are based on custom software and hardware. They include infrared LED illumination, specific materials for the touch/projection surface and high-sensitivity cameras. This technology allows the simultaneous tracking of up to 80 fingers touching the table’s surface. An infrared light source inside the table’s top acrylic surface allows the imprint of the fingertips to be captured by an infrared camera placed underneath the surface. Tables can be networked together, allowing patrons to interact with visuals, sounds, lights and with each other. The different effects generated include audio and touch reactive visuals, collaborative drawing, multi-user games as well as the control of motorized cameras scattered through the venue.

Sound Station

Réalisations.net’s sound stations allow guests to connect their iPod™ media player and browse their personal music library on the interactive table's interface. Once connected, requests can be sent to the DJ to play guests’ songs from the main sound system. For special events, the stations can be setup for an iPod™ Battle, where guests can match their mixing skills on a genuine club sound system.

3D Water Pixel

Réalisations.net’s water fountain outputs video as a stream of falling water droplets. With over 4400 water nozzle organized in a matrix, we can create 3D shapes and text in mid-air as the water falls.  Color changing LED light fixtures can be added to enhance the effect.  3D Water Pixel combines custom electronics, software controllers and interactive imagery, including physical modeling of the droplets’ behaviour, that were created by our team. Beyond the water pixel concept, our water-modeling algorithms allow us to pre-visualize the result of video projections on any computer-controlled water feature.

Single-touch Table

Réalisations.net’s single-touch interactive table are designed to be installed in clubs and restaurants environment where they can withstand harsh treatment from customers. Built around a 26 inch LCD screen with a custom tempered touch-screen, the tables’ finish can be customized to suit any decor. The tables are pre-loaded with interactive content designed by creative team. Custom versions have been developed to allow control of iPod™ media players (see Sound Station) and motorized cameras. Sound reactive visuals can also easily be programmed on the table.

Interactive Dance floor

Réalisations.net created a complete immersive environment based on a pressure-sensitive dance floor composed of 70 Color Kinetics LED tiles. Each tile is made up of a LED matrix combined with a safety glass and pressure sensors. Video is played back into the tile as well as projected from above the dance floor. Walking on a tile triggers changes in the video animation based on a database of images and video that are layered and rendered in real time. The information captured by the sensors can also be used to activate all kinds of events around the dance floor. Custom software and electronics were designed by our team to link the tiles and the imagery.

Interactive Thermal Tracking

The integration of radiometric data from thermal cameras allows precise tracking in conditions that would otherwise be impractical. This technology makes it possible to identify body parts against any background, independently of lighting variations. The tight integration of hand movements with the projected real-time video rendering engine can create an interactive zone out of a concrete slab.

Multi-projection and Geometric Distortion

Réalisations.net’s creative team has mastered the production of content on multi-screen displays. We have all the tools and technique to project single or multi-screen images on any kind of surfaces, even curved or irregular, for live events or permanent installations.

Maintenance and Remote Site Supervision

Each project calls for a specific management interface, which Réalisations.net designs based on the client's requirements, providing just the right level of flexibility the customers need. Additionally, the projects we delivered can be remotely administered and monitored in real-time from our office in Montreal, Canada through a simple broadband internet connection. This allows our team to quickly react to any problem that could arise with the installations, easily assist the on-site technician and also integrate additional features, events or special requirements from the clients.
